Next-Gen CherryPad Tablet Will Have Capacitive Touch, 1024 x 600 Resolution, 3G
Though we didn’t like the original CherryPad, because of its highly-resistive touchscreen and sluggish performance, there’s new hope for the CherryPal company. According to MobileMagazine, a seccond-gen CherryPad will be launching with much more respectable specs. These include a newer OS with Android 2.2, a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, 512MB of RAM, GPS, front and back-facing cameras, a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen at 1024 x 600 resolution (up from 800 x 400), and HDMI output along with GSM radio support.

And the specs aren’t the only thing that has changed. It looks like price has too. Expect this puppy to ship with a $300-$400 price tag, rather than the sub-$200 bargain price of the original CherryPad.

It’s still to early to get excited, and after the first CherryPad you can’t blame us for being a little bit skeptical, but maybe, just maybe, CherryPal will finally have a usable tablet.
