SanDisk offers enterprise flash drives up to 800GB

SanDisk has made six models of 2.5-inch flash drive with transfer rates of 6 gigabits per second (6Gbps).

Drives that use the interface Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) is intended for the enterprise segment, and categorized in the Lightning lineup Enterprise Flash Drive (EFD).

This product is the result of the division of Enterprise Storage Solutions (ESS) from SanDisk. This division was formed following the acquisition of SanDisk in May 2011 Pliant Technology ago. Pliant formerly known as a manufacturer of enterprise SSD technology with multi-level cell NAND.

Of the six models, three of which are the type SLC flash drives (single-level cell) with a capacity of 100GB, 200GB, and 400GB. Three other flash drive type MLC (multi-level cell) with a capacity of 200GB, 400GB, and 800GB. These drives use the Write Through Logging technology intended to improve performance without requiring battery backup.

Addition of six-drive model adds 6Gb SAS Lighting product line to 11 models. These models are intended for enterprises that require high performance and reliability. Lightning SanDisk products are available with 2.5-inch form factor and 3.5 inches with capacities ranging from 100GB to 800GB.

According to SanDisk, its OEM partners can create a RAID storage systems with multi-terabyte capacity to use multiple drives Lightning. 6GB SAS SanDiks Lightning will be available through authorized channel partners began the third quarter of 2011.

SanDisk in its press release confirming that the flash drive Lightning 6Gbps SAS storage solutions have been used on HP Qualified. HP uses the HP ProLiant server line.
