Panasonic Viera TC-P50X3 Plasma Television Review

Panasonic Viera TC-P50X3 Plasma Television Review
We’ve got another interesting plasma on tap for you today as we check out the Panasonic Viera TC-P50X3. While it won’t be nearly as impressive as a lot of televisions we’ve seen here, it will have a lot that’s going for it, especially in the value department.

The Panasonic Viera TC-P50X3 is a fifty inch 720p plasma television that offers Viera Tools to help you with the various television functions, Viera Image Viewer to let you show pictures on your television, a 600 Hz refresh rate for smooth video, two ten watt speakers with Surround Sound capability, two HDMI ports, one component input, one composite input, two USB ports, and wi-fi, once you pick up an adapter for it.

Admittedly, a bit short in the features department, but don’t be too concerned about this. While this is certainly a basic piece of hardware, one thing it’s not is a bad piece of hardware. That 720p picture looks better than you’d think with a 600 Hz refresh rate behind it, and the sound is actually better than you’d expect too. And streaming even becomes a possibility, which is terrific.

Now here’s where things get even better–the price tag. I told you this one was going to be a pretty nice value, and it is. You’ll be able to pick one of these up for $718 out at Amazon, and that’s a really very impressive price. You’re getting a fifty inch plasma television that can handle streaming and puts on a nice picture and sound display for well under a thousand bucks. I call that a good solid value.

And that’s why you’re definitely going to want to have a look at a Panasonic Viera TC-P50X3 yourself. It’s a good value system, and though it may be simple, it’s still going to put on a nice show, and that puts it head and shoulders over others I’ve seen. (Source)

Samsung LN46C600 LCD Television Review

Samsung LN46C600 LCD Television Review
Samsung has offered up plenty of televisions in all subclasses, so it’s always worth taking a look at them. You never know when you’ll be out looking at televisions, find a Samsung, and want to know if it’s worth your time. That’s why we’re looking at the Samsung LN46C600, an LCD that will have plenty to offer and do so at a good price, to boot.

The Samsung LN46C600 is a forty six inch 1080p LCD television that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate to reduce blurring in high speed images, the Wide Color Enhancer systems to improve color presentation, BD Wise to automatically adjust the relevant settings on your peripherals to get the best possible image out of them, two ten watt speakers, ConnectShare Movie to access content on thumb drives and digital cameras directly, four HDMI ports, two component inputs and one PC input.

Again, we’re short on the basics here–we’ve got a great picture and somewhat weaker sound quality (you’ll note there are plenty of augmentations to the picture but not near so much to the speakers), and you’ll get more than enough ports for your various needs, whether you need newer ports or old. Get this thing hooked up to even the most rudimentary of home theater speaker systems and you should be doing just fine here.

It’s a little hard to look at a television that doesn’t offer the next generation of capability, no streaming here at all, but it will still do a nice job of providing your current needs, whether they be older or newer, just not the very newest.

And you’ll even be able to find this one at a pretty nice price–in two different places you can find this at seven hundred ninety seven dollars, and that’s not a terrible price for a television slightly larger than the smallest of the big screens.

The Samsung LN46C600 isn’t the best you’ll find, but it will do a pretty nice job with most anything you’ll need it for. It’s surprisingly impressive for a smaller large television, and it will definitely put a punch in your home theater system.

Samsung PN50C680 Plasma Television Review

Samsung PN50C680 Plasma Television Review
It’s back to the Samsung pile to get us today’s dose of plasma fun, and we’ve got another great one in the form of the Samsung PN50C680. We’ve had a lot of good Samsungs, and thankfully, this one will match up.

The Samsung PN50C680 is a fifty inch 1080p plasma television that offers two ten watt speakers with SRS TruSurround, a game mode for improved image quality in high-speed video situations, Samsung’s Touch of Color for an extra aesthetic push, BD Wise systems, ConnectShare to access those USB drives through the television, Anynet Plus, four HDMI inputs, a USB port, a PC input, two component inputs, a headphone jack, two composite inputs and a digital audio output.

The display looks great–fifty inch 1080p is hard to do much else but look great–and the sound is also pretty nice at that. Once again SRS TruSurround shows up and gives everything a sorely needed shot in the arm. And also, you’ll get a nice mix here between support for old and new components. It’s a very nicely put together package overall, and that should get your interest.

What will clearly keep that interest, however, is that two places are selling these for under a thousand bucks each, and that’s an excellent price for a high quality piece of hardware like this.

The Samsung PN50C680 is big, looks great, sounds great and is priced right, so if you’re looking for a new television to cap off your home theater, give this one a second look.

Sony’s new TV can give two pictures to two viewers

Sony’s new TV can give two pictures to two viewers
Sony has recently announced the development of a technology called dual-view, which allows two different viewers to see two different images.

I suppose that this could be used for when two different viewers want to watch two different shows, but they will have to wear headphones so they don’t hear each each others’ audio.

It would appear that Sony wants to market this for gamers. So if two people are playing a game with a split screen, the screen would not have to split.

At a recent press conference, where Sony showed off this technology, the company warned that “this will make your eyes hurt”. Clearly, some more development is required. Until then, the results are like 3D.

Sony Bravia KDL46EX500 LCD TV's Review

Sony Bravia KDL46EX500 LCD TV's Review
With the Pro Bowl now just a memory and the Super Bowl staring us right in the face, you’ve still got some time left to get your hands on a new television ahead of that biggest of games (at least as far as football goes). Thus, this week, we’re going after the low-hanging fruit, the most abundant of models–and often the least expensive–the LCD television. We kick off our week with the Sony Bravia KDL46EX500, which is going to really impress both you and anyone you have over for the big game.

The Sony Bravia KDL46EX500 is a forty six inch 1080p LCD television that offers Motionflow 120Hz technology to cut down on blurring by bumping the frame display rate up (most televisions operate on a sixty hertz cycle–Motionflow ups that to one hundred twenty), LightSensor technology to change the brightness level based on conditions in the room, Ambient Sensor systems to change other settings to match conditions, the Bravia Engine 2 image processor, two ten watt speakers with simulated surround, 24p True Cinema display mode, a variety of video modes, four HDMI ports, two component inputs, two composite inputs, a PC input, a USB port, and an optical digital audio output.

I’ll say right off that I found the picture on this one pretty impressive, especially for an LCD television. Granted, it’s no 3D LED, but it’s still pretty nice indeed. It’s also somewhat dismaying to see that there’s no internet connectivity here, which is steadily becoming more of a requirement. But still, this plays equally well with old and new hardware, and is great for someone trading up from an old television.

The going price for this one (or so I found at four different places) is eight hundred ninety eight bucks, which is a little on the healthy side for a forty six inch television, but still mostly in line.

If you want a big, impressive new television for the Super Bowl, take a look at the Sony Bravia KDL46EX500, a television that should keep you front and center on the action.

Samsung LN40C560 LCD Television Review

Samsung LN40C560 LCD Television Review
Our look at the LCD television, ahead of the big game this Sunday, continues on with one of Samsung’s many delightful LCDs–the Samsung LN40C560, a surprisingly potent system that will manage to do a good job on price besides.

The Samsung LN40C560 is a forty inch 1080p LCD television that offers Samsung’s Touch of Color design (Charcoal Gray, specifically), ConnectShare Movie to allow content to stream from thumb drives or digital cameras, a game mode to enhance playback in high speed situations like gaming, wide color enhancer systems, the AllShare system that lets you stream video and audio from your PC to the television, two ten watt speakers with DNSe, AnyNet Plus, four HDMI ports, two USB ports and one PC input.

This is a great one if you’ve got a whole lot of new equipment, or if you’re looking for a television to use as a huge computer monitor, because it’s heavy on the HDMI, or rather, it’s almost exclusive on the HDMI. It’s kind of a tough sale, really, because it’s so dependent on new hardware, or at the very least, a receiver with an HDMI connector. Under any other set of circumstances, this television will be mostly useless to you.

Aside from that, though, the television itself is pretty nice. The sound quality is a bit on the lackluster side having no real augmentation for its dual ten-watt speakers outside of DNSe, but the picture quality is really very sharp, especially for forty inches, which is really about the lowest of the truly big screens.

And considering that the folks out at Amazon want six hundred fifty bucks for one of these, it’s a pretty good setup, assuming you’ve got just the right circumstances for it. The Samsung LN40C560 will not be for everybody, but it will do a terrific job, under just the right conditions.

Fujitsu Japan announces ESPRIMO FH/99CM naked-eye 3D television
I don’t know whether or not Fujitsu had this particular naked-eye 3D display on display at CES 2011, but I’ve only been seeing it on today’s tech blogs.

According to my Source, the ESPRIMO FH/99CM was announced today, and its 23-inch screen can do full HD pictures.

It also features a Blu-ray drive, Core i7-2630QM (2.00GHz) CPU, Intel H65 Express chip set, 4GB memory, 2TB HDD, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, double USB 3.0 ports, quadruple USB 2.0 ports, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

We should be seeing the ESPRIMO FH/99CM in Japan for about February 25 for about $3,100.
