DELL Studio XPS 16 Laptop Review, Specs and Price

Dell Studio XPS 16 This seems unremarkable, except of course it looks very interesting. Make no mistake. In the case of interest is stored several advantages that increasingly makes the Dell Studio XPS 16 is a notebook that simply can not be viewed with one eye.

The combination of glossy black color with silver accents really make the look of the Dell Studio XPS 16 looks graceful. Right in the middle of the front view of the Dell logo there is also silver with a size that is not too large. Overall, the designs that try to offer Dell this time was more directed at professional designs dynamic touch though still given.

The main menu presented by the Dell Studio XPS 16 This is actually a screen measuring 16 inches. At first glance there's nothing that special with a screen that is already using this 16:9 format. Once the notebook is turned on, then the advantage was seen. Dell Studio XPS 16 uses an LCD display with RGB LED backlight. That is, unlike most of the screen that only uses white LEDs, this one uses red LEDs, green and blue.

Lenovo ThinkPad X201 Review

The design of the X201 is almost similar to the rest of the Lenovo’s ThinkPad-series laptops. The X201 looks pretty attractive and it appears to be nicely designed. Its body has black metallic finish that offers sturdy grip in the hands. The changes in the ThinkPad over the year are quite subtle.

The X201 features traditional, decent tapered-key keyboard. Nowadays, several laptop makers are switching to flat-topped island-style keyboards. However, the keys on the X201 are large and convenient to type upon. The important keys like Shift, Alt and Tab are good size. The palm rest area has been squeezed to make room for larger keyboard.

The touchpad is relatively small compared to other laptops. Touchpad has good responsiveness and there by it is convenient to use. However, we had some problem to pinch-to-zoom on this laptop. The mouse buttons are present at the bottom. Lenovo also includes larger than usual trackball with dedicated buttons for it. It is unnecessary as it has decent touchpad and it also tampers some of the keys in the keypad.

Lenovo ThinkPad X201 Specifications:

Screen: 12.1-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) LED Backlit (Matte finish)
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional (64bit)
Processor: Intel Core i5-540M (2.53GHz, 3MB Cache)

Acer Aspire AS5742-6475 Review, Specs and Price

Aspire AS5742-6475 has 802.11 Wi-Fi Technology for wireless connectivity, although it is interesting to note that it lacks BlueTooth which is relatively common in most media gadgets today.

Despite some nondescript features, this computer laptop boasts the highest-clocked 2.53GHz Intel Core i3-380M processor which means that it can run several applications simultaneously without any problems. For this reason, the device is great for making complicated spreadsheets and video and photo editing; in fact, it can also run the Adobe Photoshop CS5 which is one of the best professional standard image-editing software.

Meanwhile, the Aspire AS5742-6475’s battery life is quite “acceptable” and can last about five hours of continuous use. While this may not be outstanding compared to other high-end, expensive laptops, this is already considered better since its rivals (computers that have almost similar features) including Lenovo G560-0679AKU which can only last approximately three and a half hours and Sony EB33FM/BJ which can last about four and a half hours.

But one probable deal-breaker is the laptop’s bland design—an all-black chassis that lacks decorative patterns and colors and even a glossy finish. However, this may not be a huge concern for consumers who are after the affordability and “utilitarian” purpose, and may even appreciate the textured top which prevents smudges.

When it comes to portability, the Aspire AS5742-6475 is lighter compared to most 15-inch laptops since it only weighs 5 pounds. Meanwhile, some of its rivals even weigh 5.6 to nearly 6 pounds which already makes them cumbersome.

Acer Aspire AS5742-6475 Specifications :

O/S: Microsoft Windows 7 Premium Edition.
Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core i3-380M dual-core processor.
Chipset: HM55 Express.
Memory: 4 GB DDR3-1066/PC3-8500 system memory (expandable to 8GB).
Video: Graphics Media Accelerator HD (with 128 MB of dedicated system memory).
Display: 15.6" LED Backlit Widescreen, Resolution 1366 x 768.
Hard Drive: 500 GB Serial ATA 5400 RPM.
Optical Drive: DVD-RAM/±R/±RW.
LAN: 10 / 100 / 1000 Mbps Gigabit NIC Ethernet LAN.
Wireless LAN: Wi-Fi® Wireless networking (802.11b/g/n).
Card Reader: Secure Digital (SD) Card, MultiMediaCard (MMC)
Interface: 3x USB, HDMI,VGA, LAN, Audio.
1.3-megapixel HD webcam Integrated.
Battery: 6-Cell Lithium-Ion (4400 mAh).

Display:

Audio:

Speaker in this laptop is definitely not up to the mark and quite disappointing too. The manufacturer arranged this laptop with a single speaker to cut down the cost. The speaker is located at the top left of the grille above the keyboard. This speaker is lacking stereo sound and volume is quite low. Movies viewing on this laptop will be hampered through these low volume speakers.
